Buddy Icons > How to use AOL IM Buddy Icons

<<This is an AOL Instant Messenger Buddy icon. There is a feature in the AOL IM program and AOL 7.0 (NOT in AOL 3.0, - 6.0. AIM is a separate program in these versions) that allows a small picture to to appear in the bottom-left corner of your instant message while you're chatting.

If clicking on the icon doesn't work, what do I do?

1. Save the desired picture to your hard drive. (right-click mouse and choose "save image as")

2. Select the People menu on the Buddy List window.

3. Click Select Buddy Icon.

4. Click the Buddy Icon tab.

To select a buddy icon for yourself, click My Buddy Icon. To select an icon for your buddy, click your buddy's screen name. To choose an icon to be used for all buddies within a group, select the group name, instead of a buddy's name.

5. Choose Browse PC to go to the location of the image file, and select the image that you want to use for your buddy.

6. Click OK. The service sends your icon to your buddy during your instant message session after each person sends several messages back and forth.
